Piccolo Podere del Ceppaiolo

Piccolo Podere del Ceppaiolo was founded in Bastia Umbra,at the foot of Assisi,as an artisanal project by Danilo Marcucci and Riccardo Pennaforti. The estate preserves one of the oldest vineyards in Umbria:a tiny 0.6‑hectare plot with four historic rows of Malvasia Bianca Lunga,Trebbiano,Grechetto, Uva Pecora,San Colombano and Verdello, trained in the traditional two‑level Palmetta system with double guyot, just as it was done more than a century ago.

A small red‑grape vineyard — less than one hectare — was later added, planted with Canaiolo,Sangiovese,Vernaccia and Sagrantino. Many vines are 50 to 70 years old, farmed without synthetic chemicals, using natural manure and minimal copper and sulfur. In the cellar, the approach is equally pure:spontaneous fermentations, native yeasts, and no added sulfites.

The result is a tiny, highly artisanal production, deeply rooted in its territory and expressing the rural soul of Umbria with authenticity and sensitivity.
